DC AREA ARTISTS

Something new and exciting is happening for artists in and around Washington and I’d like to invite you to be a part of it.   Our area is brimming with talented artists, but how can you connect with each other professionally and make a difference in our community? At International Arts & Artists (IA&A) we are committed to bringing you together with like-minded people in order to revitalize and strengthen our local arts scene. You can make a difference for yourself and for our community by becoming a Member of IA&A.

Our new Membership program provides us with a mechanism to listen and respond to the needs of DC-area artists.  IA&A will develop distinct, relevant services designed to enhance your career and to foster the creative community in and around Washington. Joining IA&A places you in a support network of artists, collectors and arts professionals of all ages, across disciplines, and in all stages of their careers. Among other benefits, your Membership card will entitle you to discounts at reputable art supply retailers and you will be eligible to participate in our heath and studio insurance programs.

IA&A’s Membership will center on Hillyer Art Space as a place where regional artists are always shown and where artists can meet.  Located in the vibrant, arts-oriented and Metro accessible Dupont Circle neighborhood, the Art Space has already become a popular First Friday destination.  In the eighteen months since it opened, Hillyer Art Space has presented a total of fourteen exhibitions involving 92 artists.  Exhibiting artists are chosen by our prestigious panel of prominent regional artists:

IA&A has several different levels of Membership, so that you can choose which works best for you. For more information or to join IA&A please call: 202-338-0680. This project is the pilot for IA&A’s national and international artist service program that will be based (and will remain) here in Washington. IA&A looks forward to serving the arts community of the mid-Atlantic region.

The Artist Pension Trust (NY).

The Artist Pension Trust is a pension program, designed especially for artists, to help with long-term financial security. Participants are chosen by a selection committee experienced in working with emerging artists. Artists in the program contribute 20 works of art into the trust throughout a 20-year time period, and will receive income 20 years after the trust begins. This creates a tax-savings benefit. Artists benefit in two ways; by receiving monies generated by sale of works in the artists' pool; and through the monies generated in the individual artist's pension account. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. For more information, contact: Artist Pension Trust, 156 Fifth Ave., Ste. 323, New York, NY 10010. E-mail / phone / visit: info@artistpensiontrust.org / 212-871-1011 / http://www.artistpensiontrust.org/.
